Robert Stephensons and Hawthorn Ltd was formed after Robert Stephenson and Co took over the loco building arm of Hawthorne Leslie & Co. They produced a slightly updated variant of the Hawthorne 14” saddle tank locomotives which in turn had partial ancestry at from Bagnall’s in Staffordshire.
Although similar these engines differed from their Bagnall cousins, featuring different tank filler locations, handrails, sandboxes and cab profile.
These locomotives proved to be pocket rockets – small, compact and very powerful which found them favour in heavy industry, power stations and the Ministry of Supply.
This model would look perfectly at home shunting any steelworks, factory, wharf, private siding or any other industrial setting. A number have also been preserved on UK heritage railways.
This 4mm scale kit comes complete with everything you will need to complete a finished body except for the chassis (and glue + paint).
